A website has the ability to serve as a dynamic online presentation of your purpose, portfolio, products, company or services.
Keep in mind, when thinking of having a website built for you or if your planning on designing one yourself. Usability is the most important thing ! An awesome design and creative style has little to no value if the visitor cannot find the information they need, because the site is not well organized.
Remember that Users spend the vast majority of their time on other websites.
Which means they form their expectations for your site based on what's commonly done on most other sites. If you deviate to much from the so called "Norm", your site will be harder to use and users will most likely leave.
Remember, Users are highly goal-driven on the Web. They visit sites because there's something they want to accomplish. The ultimate failure of a website is to fail to provide the information users are seeking.
Sometimes the answer is simply not there and the users assume that your product or service doesn't meet their needs. Other times the specifics are buried under a thick layer of marketese and bland slogans.
Since users don't have time to read everything, such hidden information might almost as well not be there.
Bottom Line
Stick with what works and keep it simple. Fancy Bells and Whistles are not always the answer, and rarely the answer when it comes to business related Websites.
